Living with Purpose

Carlos and I love knowing that the Lord is pleased with us and that together we are living a life for Him. Marriage has made us better as individuals and together as one. I have never felt closer to God or to my husband than I do at this very moment. His presence surrounds us everyday and we not only feel it, but see it in all things. Whether it be through material things, spiritual things or physical things, etc. In both our brightest and darkest hours, God has been there working all things together for our good.

I encourage you today and from now on to "seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33). God promises us that if we live a life pleasing to Him, we need not worry! God is with you and HE IS FOR YOU! I am certain that if you seek Him first, everything will fall into place and your life will be better than you ever imagined.

Have a wonderful week!
love always,
Jessica

I'm not lucky, I'm blessed!

"I’m so lucky!”
“It was our lucky day!”
“You were so lucky!”
“I guess it was just luck.”
“I’ve had a string of bad luck.”
“He was just lucky.”

Luck…we hear about it all the time. As a Christian, I don’t believe anything happens by luck or by chance. In fact, I know it doesn’t. To paraphrase Proverbs 13:33 in today’s verbiage—we may flip the coin but the Lord determines how it falls. So even in that, God is still in control!

"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." Romans 8:28

I don’t believe in coincidence. I believe in Divine Intervention: a Creator who choreographs our circumstances and cares about my life. If I believe that God has a plan, then I don’t believe in any kind of luck, and I don’t believe anything happens by chance.

Moses said, “Who is like you among the gods, O LORD—glorious in holiness, awesome in splendor, performing great wonders?” (Exodus 15:11)

If I think I’m lucky, or I think something in my life just coincidentally happened in a certain way, then I’m not giving God any credit for being who He says He is. I’m not acknowledging that He is present in a very real way in my life and in my everyday circumstances. He is just as real in the little things (like running into a friend who has been on my mind or snagging a great deal) and the big things (like walking through a family member’s chronic illness or marrying the right guy). Luck is for people who don’t yet realize that God has a great and mighty plan for their lives.

I never want to give chance or luck the glory and praise for God’s blessings and provisions, so I just say, “I’m not lucky, I’m blessed!

Love always,
Jessica
